Install Tollgate
Welcome. This page installs Tollgate and shows you where it appears in Jira: the per-project Tollgate tab and the site-wide Tollgate Portfolio page. The install takes a few minutes, and you do it once per site.
You’ll need a Jira Cloud site and permission to install apps. If you’re not a Jira admin, hand this step to whoever is. Everything after it you can do yourself.
Install from the Marketplace
Section titled “Install from the Marketplace”- Open the Atlassian Marketplace and search for Tollgate.
- Open the Tollgate listing and select Get it now (or Try it free).
- Choose the Jira site you want to install it on, and confirm.
- When Jira asks you to review the permissions Tollgate requests, accept them.
Tollgate asks for access to your Jira work and users, plus its own private storage. It also asks for Confluence access, so the business case can search, link, and create supporting pages. Roles, permissions & scopes explains what each permission is for.
That’s the install done. Tollgate runs entirely inside your Atlassian environment. You create no separate account, connect no external service, and no data leaves your site.
Find the per-project Tollgate tab
Section titled “Find the per-project Tollgate tab”Tollgate appears as a Tollgate tab on your software and business projects. It stays out of Jira Service Management and Jira Product Discovery on purpose. Tollgate governs bounded investments, and those project types don’t suit it.
- Open any software or business project.
- In the project’s left-hand sidebar, look for Tollgate.
- Select it.
The first time you open the tab, Tollgate lands you on the Investment Health dashboard. The dashboard is empty for now because the project holds no governance data yet.
Find the Tollgate Portfolio page
Section titled “Find the Tollgate Portfolio page”The portfolio view lives at site level, under the Apps menu:
- In the top Jira navigation, open Apps.
- Select Tollgate Portfolio.
Every project running Tollgate rolls up here into a single investments table, organised by theme. It’ll stay sparse until you charter a few investments, which is what you’ll do next.
What’s next
Section titled “What’s next”You’re installed and you know your way around. Before the hands-on tutorial, take five minutes on the shape of the app.
- Key concepts — the two surfaces, the dashboard, the registers, and who can see them (including why your Portfolio starts blank).
- Your first investment: thesis → gate — the flagship tutorial. Charter an investment end to end.
